You might find some bones, fossilized over 30,000 years ago, in El Bosque, just twenty kilometers from New Town (Pueblo Nuevo) heading towards San Juan de Limay, a place where the craftsmen carve beatiful stone sculptures using the local stone. Miraflor Preserve is a beautiful jungle plain covered with the pines and oaks, accessible using four-wheel drive vehicles. The view in the area are unsurpassed. (Nicaragua Tourist guide 2002)
"Among the attractions in the sorrounding area, students can visit the salto de Estanzuela, a beautiful 90 ft. waterfall which cascades into clear pool and which is a popular swimming sport for locals and visitors". (The berkeley Guide).
"From the highway Esteli appears a humbled, unattractive place, yet this unassuming town is one of the most pleasant, lively and industrious in Nicaragua. It's the biggest commercial centre in the north with a endless array of small family shops and countless restaurants along its two main boulevards and many side streets. There also good schools and universities, which draw students from all over the northern region and, as a result, the populations is young and optimistic. The climate too is pleasant with average temperatures of 19º - 21ºC. (Footprint Nicaragua Handbook).
